Zip gun used in West Flat assault

Nov 25, 2024 | 12:51 PM

A teen was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening after being assaulted with an improvised firearm, often referred to as ‘zip guns’.

Prince Albert Police were on their way to another call in the area of 10th Street W. and 1st Ave. West just before 11 pm on November 22 when the saw the injured 17-year-old.

Officers stopped and checked on him and he was subsequently treated by paramedics and taken to hospital.

Further investigation showed that suspects in the assault had fled the scene but were soon spotted walking a short distance away.

They ran when officers stopped so a K-9 team was called in to help. The dog found the suspects – already in the custody of another officer.

Police then found an improvised firearm at the scene.

Another 17-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man were arrested and charged with assault and breaching court-ordered conditions. —
