Kemp Crescent murder case committed for trial

A Prince Albert murder case involving an alleged drug house, has been committed for trial.

Quentin Gardiner will be tried at Court of King’s Bench in Prince Albert.

In relation to the death last July of Norman Wenzel, Gardiner is facing a charge of first degree murder.

On Canada Day, Prince Albert Police were called to Kemp Crescent for a disturbance and found Wenzel suffering from serious injuries. He was taken to hospital and later died.

Trial dates will be determined during a pre-trial conference. The next scheduled sitting at Court of King’s Bench is on Dec. 20.

This is not the only time Gardiner has been in the news.

In May 2024, he received a sentence of time served for common assault.

The unidentified victim had been dropped off at a home in the city’s midtown area, where there was a party going on, to buy drugs.

He came out a short time later and told his driver that he needed to go the hospital. He had a stab wound and other injuries.

Gardiner was initially charged with attempted murder, however a lack of evidence and the fact no weapon was ever recovered affected the Crown’s case.

Norman Wenzel was waiting for a court hearing himself when he passed away.

Neighbours who spoke to paNOW said the home on Kemp Crescent has been a source of continuous problems and had been visited by police in the past.
