Prince Albert Chapter of Grandmothers for Grandmothers has now folded

Prince Albert Chapter of Grandmothers for Grandmothers has now folded.The local chapter of Grandmothers for Grandmothers has closed. This not for profit fundraising group raised more than $228,000.00 since its inception in 2008, for Grandmothers in Africa.

The African Grandmothers struggled raising their grandchildren due to the deaths of their own children from HIV and AIDS. The money raised was managed by the Stephen Lewis Foundation. The SLF was created with the express purpose of supporting community-led organizations working on the frontlines of the HIV epidemic in sub-Saharan Africa.

The Prince Abert Chapter of G4G was very creative in their fundraising efforts. Over the years they held teas, hosted ARIOSO concerts, made many, many different crafting items to sell at the teas and on other occasions, and they made and sold thousands of cookies.

G4G also held annual raffles for several years. This chapter closed on a high note with the draws for their last raffle on November 19th.

Prize winners were: 6th prize – a small Persian Lamb teddy bear – won by Bard Slack 5th prize – a homemade wooden bowl – won by Leta Karlstrom 4th prize – a doll with a wardrobe of clothes – won by Wendy Switenky 3rd prize – a painting – won by Dennis Billay 2nd prize – a large fur teddy bear – won by Arlene Just 1st prize – a home made quilt – won by Judy Beddome.

G4G thanks all the donors of the prizes. G4G also thanks the community for supporting theirfundraising efforts over the years.
