Prince Albert’s Kyla Baun has added some shiny hardware to her trophy case.

At last weekend’s Alberta Fall Naturals competition in Calgary, she won the bikini overall and the masters overall (ages 35+). She also finished first in her own height category “Bikini F”, which is 5’8” and over. Baun told paNOW she is a very goal oriented driven person.

“The journey to the stage and making it there is the accomplishment in itself. Winning the titles feels absolutely amazing and confirms this is what I was meant to do,” she said.

Baun trains year round, but noted for this specific show she did a 22 week strict contest prep, which would involve both diet and exercise.

“I love this sport because there is no other feeling better than stepping on stage after knowing you put all your blood sweat and tears into preparing for it. I enjoy living a healthy fit lifestyle which goes hand in hand with bodybuilding.”

The 2024 Alberta Fall Naturals is sanctioned by the Canadian Physique Alliance and qualifies Canadian Athletes for next year’s Natural National Show.

For Baun, she’s focused now on what she described as her improvement season which will include eating more food and building muscle for the next time she hits the stage and has already planned to compete in Virginia next year.

“I have more freedom and flexibility to enjoy the foods and experiences that get put in the background while being on a strict contest prep.”

Bodybuilding is a sport that requires extreme levels of dedication and even sacrifice, but Baun explained the sport ignites a passion in herself and gives a sense of purpose. She also acknowledged her goal remains to obtain her IFBB Pro card next year and one day walk on an Olympia or Arnold stage.

“My goal is to inspire people to chase their dreams no matter how big they seem or how old you are. Anything is achievable if you set your mind to it.”
