We now know the name of the financial institution that will be created with the merger of Diamond North, Cypress, and Prairie Centre Credit Unions.

Prosperity Credit Union will come into effect Jan. 1, 2025.

The new entity will serve over 30 locations across the province, including Big River, Debden, Prince Albert, Choiceland, White Fox, Nipawin, Carrot River, and Arborfield, which are currently served by Diamond North Credit Union.

“Prosperity Credit Union will be a financial institution rooted in the cooperative principles all credit unions share. “We believe a strong community is the best investment we can make,” Greg Pagan, the Board Chair of Diamond North Credit Union said in a news release. “This credit union will strengthen relationships with our members and communities.”

Prairie Centre Credit Union serves sixteen communities in Saskatchewan, including Spiritwood and LeRoy.

“Prosperity Credit Union embodies the essence of our new credit union and our longstanding commitment to our members and Saskatchewan,” Board Chair of Prairie Centre Credit Union Greg Hannay said. “The name, Prosperity Credit Union, is about our commitment to the financial well-being and prosperity of our members and communities.”

Cypress Credit Union Board Chair Kelly Bakanec said in the release it’s an exciting time for members and employees as the merger becomes a reality.

“Working together with our members and communities, Prosperity Credit Union will drive rural prosperity in Saskatchewan,” said Bakanec.

Six communities in southwest Saskatchewan are currently served by Cypress Credit Union.

The new name and logo will be used for the credit union’s online platforms, signs, and more starting next year.
