Nov 4, 2024 | 2:29 PM

During the morning of November 2 at approximately 2:30 a.m., Prince Albert RCMP were already making patrols in the area around Redwing on the lookout for a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

Upon being spotted, the vehicle fled and officers pursued until they observed two males exiting the vehicle, one of which was carrying a firearm. The unarmed man was arrested at the scene while the other carried the firearm into a residence.

With the male known to be armed inside the building, the officers on scene contained the scene until the RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team could arrive.

An adult male along with two adult females were arrested with no injuries reported to police. The RCMP also found a sawed off shotgun inside the residence.

As a result of the investigation, 30-year-old Leslie Halkett from Muskoday First Nation has been charged with the following:

  • two counts of weapons possession contrary to order
  • two counts of restricting/obstructing a peace officer
  • one count of possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized

Halkett was also arrested on an outstanding warrant with the Prince Albert RCMP for breaching court ordered conditions.

The other adult male and two adult females were released without charge.
