Trials delayed for Prince Albert Police officer accused of assault

Oct 24, 2024 | 11:06 AM

The two trials for a Prince Albert Police officer accused of assault, won’t begin now until next year.

According to his lawyer, there was a scheduling issue with a witness.

Const. Dillon Husky, who is facing three counts of assault, was initially scheduled to face trial at provincial court on Oct. 24 and Dec. 12. Not guilty pleas were entered last March.

The alleged offences occurred on two separate dates in July 2022.

The Prince Albert Police Service asked for the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) to investigate and Husky was charged in September 2023.

Husky was recruited to the police force in mid-2019 and has been assigned to administrative duties during the court proceedings.

The new trial dates are April 10 and 11, and June 17 and 18.
