Voting week has started in Saskatchewan and polling stations in Prince Albert were already very busy on Tuesday.

Devon Gilbert voted at the Carlton Park Community Club and was asked if there was a specific issue that influenced his vote.

“Not particularly. Just the state of the economy that’s usually at the forefront of my mind when I vote,” he said.

Jim Zaparaniuk voted at the Alfred Jenkins Fieldhouse and echoed Gilbert’s concerns.

“There was no real trying issue with me but basically the economy and things are going good as far as I’m concerned,” he said.

Other voters paNOW spoke to also mentioned crime and health care. paNOW also asked voters if they had changed their vote since the last election and they all replied no except for one woman who indicated she just felt it was time for a change.

Earlier in the day Sask. Party Leader Scott Moe held a press conference outside the Alfred Jenkins Fieldhouse and reminded voters they can vote at any of the polling stations in their constituency.

“Elections Saskatchewan is making every effort to make it as convenient as possible for everyone to have access to a polling station so that everyone can vote and I would say everyone should take the opportunity to vote,” he said.

Moe noted how fortunate we are in Saskatchewan and Canada to where we can freely choose our government every four years.

“And we were reminded of this privilege this past June as we celebrated 80 years since D-Day which is when this privilege was fought for by our forefathers,” he said.

Polling stations are open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through and Saturday and a full list of locations can be found here.

There will be no voting on Sunday, Oct. 27 but will resume again on the general election day of Monday, Oct. 28.
