Former Raider Nolan Allan makes NHL debut with Chicago

Former Prince Albert Raiders defenceman and Captain Nolan Allan is now an NHLer.

The blue liner made his NHL debut on Tuesday for the Chicago Blackhawks in Salt Lake City, which was also the first NHL regular season game for the Utah Hockey Club and the first regular season game to be played in Utah.

The Hockey Club ended up winning the historic matchup, 5-2.

Despite being held off the scoresheet in NHL career game No. 1, Allan managed 10:26 of ice time over 16 shifts.

The Davidson, Sask. product was first drafted by Chicago in 2021, going 32nd overall at the end of the first round.

In his junior days, Allan was a longtime member of the Raiders and a fixture on the blueline. During his time in Hockeytown North, he accumulated 63 points (14g, 49a) over 162 games with his best year coming in 2021-22 when he collected 41 points.

During his overage year in 2022-23, Allan was traded early in the season to Seattle in a massive trade where he went on to win a WHL Championship with the Thunderbirds later that year. He added 16 more points over 41 games south of the border to finish his junior career with 79 points (21g, 58a) in 203 WHL games.

Additionally, Nolan isn’t the only connection the Allan’s have to Prince Albert as his younger brother, Evhan, was drafted by the Raiders in 2021.

Nolan and the rest of the Blackhawks squad stay on the road to open the season, headed to Winnipeg to face the Jets on Friday.
