Florida prepares for massive evacuations as Hurricane Milton takes aim at major metro areas
FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (AP) — Milton increased to a Category 2 hurricane early Monday morning with maximum sustained winds of 100 mph (161 kph).
The storm was about 195 miles west-northwest of Progreso, Mexico, and 750 miles west-southwest of Tampa, Florida, the hurricane center said in a 5 a.m. advisory.
