Writ for Sask provincial election to be dropped Oct. 1

Campaigning for the Saskatchewan provincial election will officially get underway Tuesday.

Premier Scott Moe announced on X Monday evening that he plans to ask the Lieutenant Governor to dissolve the legislature, starting the campaign.

There are 7 registered political parties in the province according to Elections Saskatchewan:

Buffalo Party of Saskatchewan (BPSK)

New Democratic Party, Sask. Section (New Democratic Party (N.D.P.))

Progressive Conservative Party of Saskatchewan (PC Party of Saskatchewan)

Saskatchewan Green Party (SGP)

Saskatchewan Party (Saskatchewan Party)

Saskatchewan Progress Party (Sask Progress)

Saskatchewan United Party (Sask United Party)

The election is set for Oct. 28 which means candidates will only have 27 days for campaigning – the minimum amount of time allowed by law in the provincial election process.
