Second guilty plea entered in Chaboyer murder case

One of three men charged in the death of Tristan Chaboyer sat quietly in the prisoner’s box as his lawyer entered a guilty plea to accessory after the fact to murder.

Kyle Bruce Charles appeared Wednesday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court. The case, which had initially been scheduled for a preliminary inquiry hearing, will now proceed to sentencing Oct. 11.

Defence lawyer Mike Nolan indicated plans to have both a joint submission and agreed statement of facts.

Tristan Chaboyer, who attended Carlton Comprehensive High School and worked at the Star House Family restaurant, was last seen Sept. 4, 2020 and was reported missing about a week later. Roughly two months later, his remains were found in a wooded area east of the city.

Three men were subsequently charged with accessory after the fact and Harley Bear’s matter was resolved earlier this month with a three-year prison sentence.

According to the facts read at that time by Crown prosecutor Keith Amyotte, between Sept. 4, 2020 and Sept. 9, 2020, three men were seen entering a house in the 900 block of 17th St. W.

Within the basement of the house was Chaboyer, who was already deceased and wrapped in a sort of rug or blanket. Only his feet and a section of his face were visible.

The three men then loaded the body into a red truck and drove to a wooded area roughly 22 km east of the city. That’s where the body was dropped and set on fire.

Also charged in the case is Allan Genereaux, who is expected back in court on Oct. 1.

The person accused of murdering Chaboyer has not been found and the investigation is ongoing.
