Raiders to celebrate life of beloved fan Trevor LaPlante during home opener

It’s been two months since the tragic death of Prince Albert’s own Trevor LaPlante, and the community is still mourning the loss of a man that brought smiles to the people of Prince Albert.

With the start of the 2024-25 hockey season coming up this weekend, LaPlante has been on the minds of hockey fans around the community as the Prince Albert Raiders look to open their season at home on Friday.

LaPlante was a well known Raiders fan as well as a former employee at Burger King and then later McDonald’s. To honour his passing, the Raiders announced on Monday that they will be donating some of the proceeds from Friday’s 50/50 towards the Ronald McDonald House charity in LaPlante’s name.

The Raiders said in a social media post:

“Trevor loved working McHappy Day every year and the family along with the staff and management (both past and current) of McDonald’s feel this would be something Trevor would have been incredibly happy with.”

A rally was held earlier in August during a court date for the accused in LaPlante’s murder. Members of the community showed up in droves wearing their Raider gear in support of LaPlante and his family.

Tickets for Friday’s 50/50 are available now online and can be purchased anywhere as long as you are in the province in Saskatchewan. You can get your 50/50 tickets by clicking here.
