Carlton prevails over North Battleford for first win of season, St. Mary to battle in Saskatoon in exhibition match Friday
Carlton picked up their first win of the new football season on Thursday night.
In a game that was originally scheduled to take place on Friday at Max Clunie Field, the Crusaders instead took to the road a day early heading west to North Battleford to take on the Vikings.
There at Beaver Lions Stadium, Carlton managed a narrow 28-23 win over the reigning North Sask. Champions after getting shut out by Saskatoon’s Holy Cross in exhibition action last week, 38-0.
The reason Carlton played away on Thursday is because the renovations of the track and field in Prince Albert are not yet complete, meaning games previously scheduled at the field will need to be played either at another field in the city or turn them into road games. The renovations are expected to be completed by the end of the month.
