Lloydminster RCMP are investigating a triple homicide.

At a news conference Thursday afternoon, Insp. Brian Nicholl described the situation as a targeted and isolated incident, and said there was no risk to public safety.

“The suspect or suspects are still at large so I do understand the concern by the community, but this is not a random incident that we believe at this time.”

Police were initially called to the home on Wednesday shortly before 6 p.m.for a well-being check. When they arrived, officers discovered the bodies of three people inside. The names of the deceased are not being released nor is any details about how they died. Nicholl said autopsies would be conducted over the next few days.

“Alberta RCMP would like to give our sincere condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of these individuals. This is a profound loss of life for the family, and the wider community,” Nicholl said.

As the investigation is ongoing, a heavy presence of officers from Alberta and Saskatchewan will remain around 50th Street and 47th Avenue in Lloydminster.

If anyone has any information, they are asked to call Lloydminster RCMP or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
