Raiders look to get back at Broncos on home ice

Sep 7, 2024 | 11:19 AM

The Prince Albert Raiders are seeking revenge in their third preseason game on Saturday as they look to avoid the home-and-home sweep against the Swift Current Broncos.

The two clubs battled it out earlier this week on Thursday at the InnovationPlex where the Broncos prevailed, 5-2. Now at home, the Raiders will look to get back into the win column.

Prince Albert, who sit with a 1-1 record, won their first game of the preseason back on Wednesday when they defeated the Saskatoon Blades, 4-1 at the Art Hauser Centre. Meanwhile, Swift Current is 2-0 in the preseason with their other win coming against Regina via an 8-5 decision, also on Wednesday.

Following tonight, the Raiders will get set for their final two preseason matchups which is a home-and-home against Saskatoon. Game one is set for Friday at 7:00 p.m. in Prince Albert while game two is the following night in Saskatoon, also at 7:00 p.m.

Who to Watch

2009-born right winger Ben Harvey can’t stop scoring through his first two games in the Green and Gold. The fourth overall pick in the 2024 WHL Draft has lit the lamp in both contests in the preseason, scoring on the powerplay versus Saskatoon and the opening tally against Swift Current. The Edmonton product sits with a +1 rating entering Saturday and was named the third star during Wednesday’s win.

Rookie blueliner Benett Kelly sits alone at the top in team scoring heading into Saturday. The 16-year-old has three helpers through the first two contests, picking up a pair on Wednesday and another on Thursday. The Cochrane native was drafted 27th overall in the second round to the Raiders in 2023.
