Raiders head to Swift Current for second preseason game

The Prince Albert Raiders are back in action on Thursday for their second preseason contest in as many days, heading south to Swift Current to take on the Broncos.

Less than 24 hours ago, the Raiders kicked off the WHL preseason with a 4-1 victory over the Saskatoon Blades at the Art Hauser Centre. Meanwhile, the Broncos also played on Wednesday and came away with an 8-5 win against the Pats in Regina.

The tilt is the first of two preseason matches between the two clubs as they will meet again on Saturday night in Prince Albert.

A Look at Last Game

With a win already under their belt in the preseason, the Raiders are looking to continue to roll in Speedy Creek.

The youngsters showed out in the preseason opener, with 2023 drafted forward Ty Muenier taking second star honours after a goal and an assist while 2024 drafted forward Ben Harvey was named third star with a power play goal in the second period. Taking first star was returning player Oli Chenier, who managed a goal and an assist.

Also notching points in the contest was Jonah Siverston with a goal, Benett Kelly with two helpers, and Kyle Obobaifo with an assist.

Both Cooper Anderson and Steele Bass split time between the pipes, combining for 17 saves in the win.

What’s Next

As mentioned, the Raiders are back at home for their next matchup on Saturday wrapping up the home and home with Swift Current.

Following the contest, the Green and Gold close out the preseason with a home and home against the Blades next weekend. Game one goes on Sept. 13 in Prince Albert while game two is slated for Sept. 14 in Saskatoon.
