Ride share from P.A. to Saskatoon ends in stabbing

Sep 4, 2024 | 9:56 AM

A 24-year-old woman is recovering from stab wounds following a ride share from Prince Albert to Saskatoon.

Saskatoon Police said they were called about 6 a.m. on Saturday, August 31 to the area of Meadows Boulevard and Stilling Lane.

They found the victim suffering from stab wounds. She told officers the stabbing happened after getting a ride from Prince Albert to Saskatoon.

Paramedics treated her and took her to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

In 2018, the province introduced legislation to increase safety around ride shares, including requiring drivers offering rides to pass a criminal record check annually and having their vehicles pass a safety inspection every year.

The Saskatoon Police Serious Assault Unit (SAU) is continuing to investigate and anyone with information that may assist in the investigation is asked to contact police at 306-975-8300, or submit a tip anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
