Prince Albert Police Service confirm city’s fifth homicide of 2024

The death on Sunday in Prince Albert of a 22-year-old man is being treated as a homicide.

That’s according to information released on Thursday by the Prince Albert Police Service.

Darren Laviolette Jr. was found deceased in the 1200 block of 28th Street East. The autopsy was completed on Tuesday.

The Prince Albert Police Service Criminal Investigations Division and Forensic Identification Section continue to investigate.

In their news release, police noted they are looking to speak with anyone who was with or spoke with Darren Laviolette between the night of Saturday Aug. 31 and 3 a.m. on Sunday, Sept, 1, or has information on where he was or who he was with.

Police are also asking anyone that heard or witnessed a disturbance in the area of 28th Street East and the 2800 block of Sherman Drive to contact them or Crime Stoppers.

Following Laviolette’s death, a number of heartfelt messages have been shared on social media by friends and family including one by his father.

“My Son, My Man, My first born son Darren Jr. My heart broke into a million pieces when they told me you weren’t here with us anymore. I’m hurt, I’m shattered and I miss you so much already. I love you my man,” he wrote.
