The money needed to build a new Ronald McDonald House in Prince Albert has further melted away, thanks to a classic story about a young girl who lands in a magical land, and while finding her way home, befriends a scarecrow, a lion and a tin man.

The Broadway North Theatre Company’s recent production of the Wizard of Oz ran for over a week at the EA Rawlinson Centre and raised $21,930 towards the $8 million community project.

The Malcolm Jenkins Family Foundation (MJFF) pledged to contribute $10 dollars for every ticket sold.

Roxanne Dicke, who is the General Manager of the EA Rawlinson Centre, told paNOW she was thrilled at the response from the community who purchased tickets to the show and for contributing to this fundraising effort for MJFF.

“It brings great pride that our community works together to support the arts, and to this incredible addition for families needing the services of Ronald McDonald House. Prince Albert really showed up, and we should all be proud of this incredible effort,” she said.

Dicke also noted both the arts and the community needs remain passions for Malcolm Jenkins.

“We’re so incredibly blessed by his contributions and commitment to our community. I’d like to also thank the entire cast, crew, and creative team as well as the City of Prince Albert and EA Rawlinson staff for making this success happen.”

The anticipated opening date for the new Ronald McDonald House is early to mid 2026. Construction is expected to begin once 80 per cent of the fundraising has been completed.
