Candle Lake man proud of Olympian grandson
A former mayor of Candle Lake says it’s not everyday you get to see a family member play at such a high level of sporting event.
John Quinn’s grandson Trey Lyles played for the Canadian men’s basketball team at the Paris Olympics and Quinn said he watched most of the games. Lyles also plays for the NBA’s Sacramento Kings.
“I watch him regularly when the NBA season is on but I think you go to a different level when you are talking about the Olympics which is like the premiere sporting events that we all look forward to seeing. To have an Olympian in the family is pretty exciting,” Quinn said.
On Wednesday, the Canadian team was eliminated from competition, losing out in the quarter-finals to France 82-73.
