Big Game Draw, hunting licences now available in Saskatchewan

Aug 1, 2024 | 11:49 AM

Hunting season is almost upon us.

The Saskatchewan Big Game Draw and regular hunting licences are available to purchase starting Thursday. Quota-limited licences for antlerless mule deer will be available Aug. 15 on a first-come, first-served basis.

Licences can be purchased online through the Hunting, Angling and Trapping Licence System, in person at a Government of Saskatchewan field office or from a licence issuer, or by phone.

The Saskatchewan Hunters Guide and Trappers Guide are also available through the provincial government’s website.

“Both the Trappers Guide and the Hunters Guide include comprehensive lists of season dates, important information on regulations, licences and fees, and highlights of what is new for 2024, including expanded dark goose hunting opportunities,” the provincial government said in a statement.

Roughly 85 per cent of the land in southern Saskatchewan is privately owned. When it comes to hunting on private land, the provincial government noted that getting consent from the owner is mandatory before entering or hunting.

Consent can be given orally, in writing, or through signage.
