NHLer Mahura honours Humboldt Broncos on day with Stanley Cup

Jul 25, 2024 | 8:01 AM

Stanley Cup champion Josh Mahura took some time out of his day with the coveted trophy on Monday to honour those who passed in the Humboldt Broncos bus crash.

Mahura, who spent the day with the Cup in his hometown of St. Albert, A.B., took Lord Stanley to a memorial in town which honours the four local players who died in the accident.

Those players include Logan Hunter, Jaxon Joseph, Connor Lukan and Steven Wack. The four, like Mahura, played for the town’s local minor hockey team, the St. Albert Raiders.

Mahura won the Stanley Cup this past season with the Florida Panthers, and recently signed with the Seattle Kraken as a free agent.

In April 2018, 16 members of the Broncos, including players, coaches, and support staff, were killed in the crash when a semi collided with their bus en route to a playoff game. Another 13 members were injured.
