After finishing second at the provincial championship, the U15 Astros have punched their ticket to Nationals.

The weekend tournament was held in Prince Albert and the Astros went undefeated through the round robin with lopsided wins over the Valley Blue Jays, Rosebud Royals, Okanese Thunderstrikers and Delisle Diamond Dogs.

In the championship round, the Astros once again faced Delisle and won 13-2.

The gold medal game pitted the Astros against the Valley Blue Jays and this time the Astros came up short, losing 6-2.

Nationals will be held in Quebec and begin Aug. 14.

The U15 A girls’ tournament was also held in Prince Albert.

The Aces were practically perfect during round robin, losing only to White Butte 5-3.

Advancing to the championship round, they lost 12-11 to the Regina Lazers, before rallying and beating the East Central Wolveriines 19-4 and then the Twin City Angels 10-5.

Despite not receiving a medal, based on their overall play at the tournament the Aces received a berth at Westerns.

Teams must indicate prior to the tournament whether they will attend Nationals or Westerns. Regina opted out and so by winning the final game, the Aces secured a spot.

Westerns are scheduled to take place in the Battlefords from Aug. 2 to 5.
