Co-op websites back up and running after cyber attack

Co-op has made more progress in its cyber security incident.

Federated Co-operatives Ltd. says their websites are back up and running as of Wednesday.

In a social media post, the company thanked customers for their patience and understanding.

The company has still not confirmed if there was any data released from the incident. This is after rumours started circulating online that data was compromised.

A request for comment from Co-op on Monday was declined.

“As our investigation is ongoing we will not be conducting interviews at this time,” the company said in an email to 980 CJME.

“All official public statements will be released on FCL social media channels.”

The company has not explained what happened during the attack, and many people are still left with unanswered questions.

However, Colin Rooke, with Butler Byers Insurance, suggested the attack on Federated Co-operatives Ltd. was likely ransomware.
