The Prince Albert Raiders trio of first round picks in the 2023 WHL Draft are all headed East for Canada’s U17 Development Camp.

Daxon Rudolph (first overall), Riley Boychuk (second overall), and Ty Meunier (seventh overall) will be on their way to Oakville, Ontario for the camp that begins on Thursday and runs until July 24.

Rudolph recently completed his first season at the U18 level where he suited up with the Northern Alberta Xtreme (NAX) program. The Lacombe, Alta. product finished eighth in league scoring, and second in scoring among defencemen in the entire CSSHL, tallying 22 goals and 37 assists with nine powerplay goals.

Joining Rudolph is fellow NAX teammate Boychuk, who also had quite an impressive campaign. The forward led the team in scoring this past season, 16 goals and 46 assists, enough to lead the program in points and tie for third in league scoring. While on the man advantage, he tallied a near league leading 21 assists and didn’t take a single penalty in the regular season.

Rounding out the three is Meunier, who had himself a season in his first campaign with the U18 AAA St. Albert Raiders of the Alberta Elite Hockey League (AEHL). He led the rookies in league scoring with 53 points (27g, 28a), which was enough for fourth overall in the league. Additionally, he registered nine powerplay goals tying him for the most in the AEHL, while scoring a league high seven game winning goals.

Last week, Raiders assistant coach Ryan McDonald was named as an assistant coach of Team Canada Black for the U17 World Hockey Challenge, which happens in Sarnia, Ontario from Nov. 1-9.
