RCMP respond to water-related death at Waskesiu Lake

Waskesiu RCMP received multiple calls about a man in distress at Waskesiu Lake in Prince Albert Provincial Park.

The calls were made around 3 p.m. Sunday. Officers attended along with EMS and Parks Canada Wardens. The man was removed from the water and declared deceased by EMS on the scene.

The Saskatchewan Coroners Service is investigating.

RCMP said since this is considered a sudden death investigation and there is no element of criminality, they will not be releasing any further details including the names of the deceased or anyone involved.

On Monday, Parks Canada issued a statement confirming the drowning and said that off-duty medical personnel, EMTs, Parks Canada staff and the Coroner Service all responded.
