Weekend fire scorches booth on Exhibition grounds

Jul 1, 2024 | 9:40 AM

r For the second time in less than two months, the Prince Albert Fire Dept. has been called to the Exhibition grounds for a structure fire.

On June 30, at 5:46 p.m., the Prince Albert Fire Department responded to reports of two structure fires at that location.

On arrival, crews found one fire in the announcers booth at the roping arena, as well as some straw in a small corral area in a separate location that was burning.

Both fires were quickly extinguished, preventing damage to nearby structures. The announcers booth did suffer some damage from the fire.

Back on May 25, a main cattle barn used by the 4H club for their annual beef show and sale, was consumed by fire. The cause of that fire remains part of a police investigation.

Prince Albert Mayor Greg Dionne, who is also president of the Prince Albert Exhibition Association, informed paNOW at the time the structure is insured and said he was told by investigators that the fire was started outside the building.
