Traffic stop ends in arrest near Meadow Lake

Jun 27, 2024 | 3:55 PM

An evening traffic stop on Highway 55 east of Meadow Lake turned into a drug bust for Green Lake RCMP.

Officers pulled over a vehicle around 9 p.m. on June 23 and the following investigation resulted in the arrest of a 35-year-old man from Pinehouse Lake.

Police found two kilos of meth, 34 grams of cocaine and about 26 grams of fentanyl/MDMA. They also seized trafficking paraphernalia, an imitation handgun, a lighter that looks like a gun and some cash.

The man arrested was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, carrying a concealed weapon and having a weapon contrary to an order.

“This is a significant drug seizure. We removed potentially 20,000 doses/points of methamphetamine from Green Lake and the surrounding communities,” said Cpl. Paul Loder from Green Lake RCMP. “We also seized two imitation firearms – one was a lighter and the other looked and felt remarkably similar to a real handgun. In all, the sharp observation skills of our officer resulted in some dangerous substances and objects being taken off the streets.”
