Incumbent councillor Dawn Kilmer will be back in the running this fall for general municipal elections.

Kilmer is just finishing her first four-year term representing Ward 7 and said she is happy to see the growth that have happened in Prince Albert over the last few years.

“During my first term, the City of Prince Albert witnessed significant growth and development. Through strategic partnerships and initiatives, Council secured numerous new investments that have contributed to the city’s prosperity. This prosperity must be followed by continued strategic investments in our infrastructure,” said Kilmer in a news release.

“I have been a strong advocate for the residents of Prince Albert. I have effectively championed causes that matter most to the community by building strong relationships with various levels of government and nonprofit organizations. We continue to be most effective when we work together.”

Kilmer said she remains committed to transparency and accountability and making sure all residents have a voice.

Putting that into practice, she has hosted multiple community meetings and brought the police chief and city administration to help answer questions.

“As I announce my decision to seek re-election, I remain committed to building on the progress we have made together. I am deeply invested in the future of our city and am dedicated to serving our residents with integrity and passion,” she said.

Elections are this fall. So far, Mayor Greg Dionne and councillors Blake Edwards in Ward 6 and Tony Head in Ward 3 have said they will run again. Don Cody in Ward 4 is not running again.

Dionne has one challenger for mayor’s seat so far as Bill Powalinsky has stated he will run for the mayor as well.
