Increased police presence around MacDowall, north side of South Sask River
Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team, police dog services and other specialized units are actively searching an area on the north side of the South Saskatchewan River.
An investigation began yesterday afternoon when police received a report of a person driving on a northbound SUV around 3:45 p.m. who possibly pointed a firearm at another vehicle travelling on Highway 11. No injuries were reported.
Police located the SUV but the driver was able to evade them multiple times. Eventually the SUV was found abandoned in a treed area south of MacDowall, east of Highway 11.
There are no descriptions of the suspect who police believe fled on foot. Residents in the area are being encouraged to ensure their homes and vehicles are locked and report any suspicious activity.
