SIGA now accepting applications for 2024 Indigenous Scholarship Awards Program
More than $50,000 is available to postsecondary students through the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) Indigenous Scholarship Awards Program. Applications are being accepted June 17-August 17, 2024, by applying at www.siga.ca/scholarships.
“I received the SIGA Scholarship for Saskatchewan First Nations Post-Secondary Students. This scholarship has helped me greatly in pursuing my post-secondary education, as I didn’t have to worry about the stresses of money, but rather my studies,” said former SIGA scholarship recipient Fearence Francis.
Scholarships are distributed through three different categories: The SIGA Justice Paul Favel Indigenous Award for Outstanding Leadership in Community Involvement; Shauna Bear Memorial Scholarship for Aspiring Indigenous Human Resources Professionals; and SIGA Scholarships for Saskatchewan First Nations Post-Secondary Students, in varying amounts.
“At SIGA, one of our guiding principles Pimâcihowin refers to making a living and we understand education and continuous learning are essential ingredients in doing so. We also know training, upgrading and education programs cost money and that’s why we established our SIGA Indigenous Scholarship Awards Program,” said SIGA Vice President of Corporate Affairs Pat Cook.
