Update: On June 19, the Prince Albert Police Service confirmed Custer’s death was not suspicious in nature.

Dominic Custer’s remains were found in the North Saskatchewan River near O’Grady Lane by one of the teams looking for him.

His family reported him missing last week after he did not call his grandmother on Sunday morning, something he never failed to do.

He had walked out of a home in the 200 Block of River Street East and was not seen again.

The Prince Albert Grand Council offered to help organize the search and the Emergency Operations Centre issued condolences to Custer’s family.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Dominic Custer has been found deceased in the river,” said the EOC.

“Our deepest condolences go out to Dominic’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. We ask for your thoughts and prayers for Dominic’s loved ones and community as they navigate this profound loss.”

Custer lived in Deschambault Lake and was only in Prince Albert visiting family when he went missing.

Along with the fire department, police officers removed Custer’s remains from the river just after 6:30 pm on June 14.

The office of the Chief Coroner and PAPS’ Criminal Investigation Division are continuing the investigation. An autopsy will be done early next week.
