OTTAWA — The Ottawa Senators have signed forward Cole Reinhardt to a one-year, two-way contract extension, the NHL team announced Friday.

The contract carries a value of US$775,000 in the NHL and $95,000 in the American Hockey League.

The 24-year-old from Calgary had 23 points (eight goals, 15 assists) and 76 penalty minutes over 56 regular-season games with the AHL’s Belleville Senators last season.

He also scored a goal while skating in each of Belleville’s seven Calder Cup playoff games.

Reinhardt was selected by Ottawa in the sixth round, 181st overall, at the 2020 NHL draft.

He made his lone NHL appearance April 7, 2022, in Ottawa’s home game against Nashville.

“Cole continues to showcase very good skating ability,” Senators president of hockey operations and general manager Steve Staios said in a release. “In combination with his size, he’s become an important penalty killer.

“He’s a good defensive player and one we expect to take another step forward in his overall development in 2024-25.”
