“The Lion” enters the cage with the “Fighter” at Unified 58

Jun 13, 2024 | 6:00 PM

Prince Albert’s Ryan Rohovich and Sturgeon Lake’s Caleb Ermine will have redemption on their minds when they enter the UFC cage Friday night.

Unified 58 takes place at the River Cree Resort and Casino in Edmonton.

In a lightweight division bout, Rohovich (5-5) takes on the formidable Jett Grande (5-1-1).

Amongst active Canada Pro lightweights, Grande, who is from Red Deer, is ranked 17th. For Western Canada, he’s ranked 8th.

Grande’s last fight was in March when he defeated Caleb Ermine. The fight was called after the first round due to Ermine suffering a leg injury and being unable to compete.

Rohovich’s last scheduled fight was at Battlefield Fight League 78 but it was called off.

This was on account of the fact Rohovich was rushed to hospital the night prior with what appeared to be kidney-related issues. During weigh-ins, he was suffering severe cramps. Fortunately, he was discharged the next day and has been training very hard since, eagerly awaiting his next opportunity.

In addition to being a skilled striker, Rohovich is also very dangerous on the ground which he proved at BFL 72 when in the final seconds of his match, forced the “The Juggernaut” Josh Kwiatkowski to tap out.

Coming off a loss to Grande, a much healthier and equally determined Caleb “Bruce Cree” Ermine (1-4), will face Lethbridge’s Nick Felber (1-1) in one of the prelim matches.

The event is available on UFC Fight Pass.
