Prince Albert Chamber celebrates new downtown HQ

The CEO of the Prince Albert and District Chamber of Commerce says their new downtown location is more than a building; it’s a hub for innovation.

Patty Hughes made the comment during Wednesday’s grand opening celebration.

The transformation process at 54 – 11th St. E started roughly four months ago, and was part of the Chamber’s long term strategy. Chair Kelly Board Chair Kelly Disiewich was pleased with how fast everything came together.

“We made one of the decisions where this was gonna be best for our longer term vision for the chamber,” he told paNOW.

The new downtown headquarters, formerly occupied by the Red Cross, represents a move for the Chamber from the City’s southern outskirts. They officially gained possession Feb. 1 and began moving in the following month. Disiewich noted they were previously renting from the city but now own this building.

“We just saw an opportunity to have some stability and direction over our facility,” he said.

A number of dignitaries and business owners gathered for Wednesday’s grand opening and had a chance to tour the building.

Disiewich said the additional office space will allow for more partnerships and will be accessible to local businesses to rent/use. He also commented on the fact that their tenant is Community Futures, which he described as a great fit.

“We’re advocating for businesses, much like they are,” Disiewich said. “We can both provide services to help new and existing businesses.”

Mayor Greg Dionne said he was excited about the fact City Hall and the Chamber are now neighbours. (Nigel Maxwell/ paNOW Staff)
