Successful weekend for young lacrosse players

May 27, 2024 | 5:00 PM

Over the weekend, Prince Albert was home to dozens of young lacrosse players from various corners of the province.

A total of 17 teams, across three age groups, took part in the annual Bolt Supply House Classic Lacrosse Tournament. And over three days, there were 36 games played between Steuart Arena and Kinsmen Arena.

The U11 division final was a match up between the Shellbrook Swarm and the Prince Albert Lumberjacks.

The Swarm would emerge the victors, winning 9-8. The Regina Grizzlies took third place.

For the U13 age group, the Prince Albert Giants stood tallest, silencing the Regina Riot 9-4 in their final.

The Prince Albert Smokejumpers finished in third place.

And for the U15 division, Border Brutes won first. Two Prince Albert teams, the 82’s and the Trappers, finished second and third respectively.

Prince Albert Lacrosse President Javan Bexson was pleased with the weekend, noting all the games very competitive and featured lots of great sportsmanship.

He also noted it was very cool to see Shellbrook win the tournament, describing it as a huge accomplishment for such a small community.

The Bolt Supply House Classic Lacrosse Tournament has run since 2006.
