Picture it.

A hot Saskatchewan summer day and you’re cruising down SK-55 in a custom Nissan Murano. Feel the cool leather seats on your back, hear the amped up stereo blasting your favorite radio station – Beach 101.5, and see your worries disappear in the rear-view mirror.

That dream can become a reality with the launch of Pattison Media’s annual vehicle giveaway contest – the Summer Free Ride.

“It started back in the ‘Rock Machine’ days of XFM and three years ago we rebranded to the Beach 101.5 Summer Free Ride. Basically, every day the vehicle is on the street this summer, you have a chance to win a custom 2012 Nissan Murano we’ve named ‘Blue’,” said Pattison Media retail sales supervisor Jocelyn Bovay.

The contest official launched Thursday on the ‘Lew and Teena Morning Show’ on Beach Radio. They were live on location at Evergreen Nissan and again in the afternoon at Anderson Motors.

“The contest has almost become a bit of a cult classic in the city,” said radio host Lew Harrison. “I’ve been doing this for years and during that time we’ve had so many dedicated listeners enter time and time again, and why not? You could win a free vehicle.”

Blue was provided by Westview Steering & Brake which also provided the mechanical work. R&W Custom Collision did the paint and body work while TR Spring & Align added the hitch, a bike rack and WeatherTech mats. Fresh Air Experience also donated a Marlin mountain bike.

“Those are just a few of the Summer Free Ride sponsors,” said Bovay. “Ben’s Auto and House Glass, Fabricland, PA Soundworks, TEK Auto Repair, Lake Country Co-op, Affinity Insurance, Wicks Detailing, Evergreen Nissan, Parkland Meats, Knotty Pine Bistro, PA Wand Wash, Markit Signs and Napa Auto Parts all made this possible. Prince Albert residents look forward to this contest every summer and we really couldn’t do it without our sponsors,”

The Murano also has new rims and tires, glass, remote starter, a custom sports rack and an updated sound system. Every time Blue is on location this summer, someone could qualify for a key that could ultimately win the vehicle. To qualify, you just need to be over the age of 16 with a valid driver’s license and be a Saskatchewan resident.

Last year, about 13-thousand entries were made into the contest during 60 live-on-location events throughout the summer. Bovay expects to see those numbers increase this year as more people catch a glimpse of Blue.

“This is one of our best vehicle’s yet. It’s such a cool, sporty car that’s fully loaded on top of everything else we’ve added with help from our sponsors,” said Bovay.

Beach Radio 101.5 will draw exactly 101 names to qualify for the Summer Free Ride Contest.

“We’ll draw one or two names every time we are live-on-location,” said Harrison. “So, unless your name is called, come find me and Blue wherever we are around town this summer and re-enter for your chance to win.”

We’ll find out who takes home Blue on August 24 when the contest windup takes place at the Knotty Pine Bistro in Little Red River Park.
