Grow Hope Saskatchewan

May 15, 2024 | 3:35 PM

With the sun shining brighter and the air filled with the promise of a new season, we’re thrilled to kick off the 7th year of Grow Hope Saskatchewan! Reflecting on the project’s journey since 2018, we’re filled with awe.

SPONSOR AN ACRE

This project bloomed from the fertile ground of collaboration between the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, MCC Saskatchewan, and the Diocese of Saskatoon Catholic Foundation, and was fueled by your generosity.

From those seeds of faith, we’ve grown into a vibrant project, uniting five church traditions: Mennonite, Catholic, Baptist, Anglican, and Presbyterian.

Six years ago, two visionary farmers planted the first seeds, collectively committing 160 acres to help end global hunger.

Today, thanks to support from seven farm families and several hundred donors, over 400 acres are available to answer Isaiah’s call to “Feed the hungry and help those in trouble.” (Isaiah 58:10).Last year, your generosity exceeded our target, with enough to sponsor 463 acres. Surplus donations bolstered our contribution to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, raising a total of $318,613. In the past six years, over $1.1M has been raised, supplemented by government-matched funds, totalling up to $5M to combat global hunger, including efforts in Haiti. Learn more about how children suffering from malnutrition in Haiti are finding support for healthier lives here.

In 2024, 411 acres are available. It costs up to $350 to provide the essential resources for one acre. Can we ensure every acre is sponsored? Join us in kick-starting this season!

Who could forget our very first Grow Hope field day in 2018? Held in Rosthern, it was a celebration of unity and purpose, highlighted by the inspiring exchange between Olympic Gold Medalist Cindy Klassen and Grow Hope farmer Nathan Janzen. Their exchange of medals and canola plants symbolized the power of collaboration and the spirit of giving.

As we look back on the past years, we extend heartfelt gratitude for your support. Your commitment has been the heartbeat of Grow Hope, and we feel God has blessed this response to His call.

For those new to the project, a warm and joyous welcome to the Grow Hope family! Together, as urban and rural Canadians representing diverse faith traditions, we are cultivating unity and abundance.

As we embark on this new season, let’s continue to sow the seeds of faith. Together, we grow hope and reap the harvest of transformed lives.

On behalf of the steering committee of these five partners; Anglican Diocese of Qu’Appelle, Synod of Saskatchewan of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon, Canadian Baptist Ministries, and MCC Saskatchewan,
