‘What I was born to do’: P.A.’s Strong gearing up for grand finale

Prince Albert’s Rebecca Strong will try to take another step towards winning this year’s Canada’s Got Talent on Tuesday Night as she performs in the grand finale of the popular Canadian show.

The local singer advanced to the final in last week’s show. She said she feels relaxed going in.

“Honestly I’m just trying to keep it really chill and not psyche myself out,” Strong said. “I’m here to perform, that’s what I was born to do, and I’m just going to do exactly that.”

Strong said this was what she has dreamt of her whole life.

“It was on my bucket list…I’ve been dreaming since I was very young, and I’ve always dreamt of being on big stages and (Canada’s) Got Talent, so yeah I did think that I would be on a stage like this at some point in my life, I just didn’t know when,” she said.

Strong added that she’s been blown away by the support that she’s received along her journey.

“It’s amazing, like I just want to say thank you to everyone,” she said. “And just all over Canada…I’ve been reading comments and seeing who is supportive and who is commenting on my posts and it’s just amazing how many people can come together and support me. It’s hard to wrap my head around honestly.”

With strong Indigenous roots, Strong is aiming to be a positive role model for Indigenous youth.

“My whole presence on the show is to support Indigenous artists and Indigenous youth and just youth in general,” she said. “And pave a way for them to follow their own dreams and know that we can make it in mainstream media and you can do anything that you put your heart too.”

The grand finale for Canada’s Got Talent is scheduled for Tuesday night at 6 p.m. Saskatchewan time on Citytv.

“Today Tuesday May 14, make sure you guys watch on Citytv, and vote for Rebecca Strong. Canada, this vote is in your hands,” Strong said.
