RCMP have laid more charges against Richard John Dyke – a man already accused of sexual offences that occurred in the mid 2010’s against three male youth under the age of 12 in his Assiniboia, SK home where his wife operated a day care.

Since his initial arrest in November of last year, 29 more victims from several communities have been identified, including Tisdale.

Police officers from Saskatchewan RCMP’s General Investigation Section (GIS) and the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) analyzed more than 1.5 million pieces of digital evidence that were obtained from electronic devices seized during the initial investigation. The evidence is considered child sexual abuse material. The offences occurred between 2005 and 2023 in Tisdale, Estevan, Assiniboia, Coronach, Gravelbourg and Swift Current. The victims were mostly boys between the ages of 18 months and 17 years old.

Dyke, who is now 47-years-old, is facing 14 counts of sexual assault, 14 counts of sexual interference, nine counts of voyeurism and 23 counts of making child pornography. These charges are in addition to 13 other charges laid in November.

Police said some victims came into contact with the accused through various relationships, one of which was the daycare. Dyke was also an instructor with the Air Cadets although no victims have been identified in connection with that role.

Dyke has been in custody since he was charged in November and will remain in custody until his next court appearance in Moose Jaw Provincial Court on June 4. No charges have been laid against Dyke’s spouse and she is co-operating fully with investigators.

Anyone who thinks they or their child might be a victim or anyone who has any information is asked to call RCMP.
