Prince Albert’s Bella Mulhall and Taryn Dumont have gone the distance and earned the respect of their province.

They competed last week at the National Senior Girls’ Doubles Bowling Championship and finished in a tie for fourth with British Columbia. This was Dumont’s first trip to Nationals and told paNOW it was really fun.

“It was an experience I will never forget and if I could, I would totally do it again,” she said.

Provincials were held last month at the Glencairn Bolodrome in Regina. When asked to compare the different levels of competition, Dumont said the energy in Ottawa was a lot different, adding everyone was just so excited to be there and focused on winning the championship.

Thankfully for Dumont, she had one of her best friends at her side.

“I’m one to get in my head quite a bit with how I’ve been bowling and so just to have Bella there was just a big help for me,” she said.

Over the course of three days, Dumont and Mulhall played 21 games and averaged a 395.57.

Acknowledging this is her last year playing as a youth, Dumont said she’s looking forward to competing in the adult leagues and also aspires to get her coaching certificate.

Bella Mulhall, 17, has been to Nationals once before, but noted this time felt a lot different and she enjoyed the level of competition and meeting bowlers from other provinces.

“It’s just a different atmosphere because you are representing Saskatchewan and there’s more pressure so you feel like you’re more focused and into the game,” she said.

Mulhall has two more years left as a youth, and is focused on returning to Nationals.

Finishing first at Nationals was Northern Ontario, followed by Newfoundland and Southern Ontario.
