Fire bans in effect in three local RM’s

Update: The Rural Municipality of Ponass Lake No. 367 has removed the fire ban within the RM effective Tuesday, May 14 at 5 p.m.

Three local rural municipalities (RM’s) are under a fire ban due to dry conditions.

A level 1 Fire Ban has been in place within the RM of Arborfield since Apr. 16.

Any open burning is banned in the RM, according to their website. Burning barrels, incinerators, and barbecues must be supervised.

Two other RM’s issued fire bans over the weekend.

The RM of Ponass Lake declared a fire ban on Saturday afternoon, while the RM of Barrier Valley to the north declared a ban on the following day.
