The Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame gained seven new members yesterday.

During a ceremony at the Ches Leach Lounge inside the Art Hauser Centre on Saturday night, the Class of 2024 were each honoured with an induction video and given a medal and a pin from some of the Hall’s directors and executives. The Class of 2024 included three builders, one athlete, one athlete and builder, one for meritorious service, and one team.

Those being builders Melodie Boulet, Jennifer Ferguson, and Brad and Tyson Fetch, athlete Ashley Viklund, athlete and builder Francois Fournier, Al Dyer for meritorious service, and the 1995 Prince Albert Toppers volleyball team. Additionally, the 2023 Esso Cup Committee was recognized as the Organization of the Year, represented by Robin Wildey who was Chair of the committee.

With the seven new inductees, the Hall now sits at 227 members.

Ferguson spoke on behalf of the Class of 2024, expressing their gratitude for the recognition and giving thanks to everyone who helped them along the way.

“I think I speak for all of us when I say that we are truly humbled and honoured to be recognized tonight and we are so proud to call Prince Albert home,” she said. “We would also like to express our sincerest thank you to those who took the time to nominate us. Many of you are mentors, coaches, teammates, and friends and you are all leaders in our community. Thanks to your leadership, sports are flourishing in Prince Albert.”

“We’ve all been fortunate to meet many incredible people throughout our involvement in sport, many of whom are here tonight and have become more than friends,” she continued.

“Some of us are being inducted for our athletic achievements, others as builders of sport in our community. What should come as no surprise, but is important to make note of, is that all of us were athletes at some point and now, we choose to give back to the sports that gave us so much. We hope to inspire the next generation of athletes and coaches to dream big, work hard, and never give up on their goals.”

Nominations for the Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2025 are now open, and the newest inductees will be announced in December.
