Prince Albert rallies behind respected community member

Support is pouring in for a well-respected community member in Prince Albert, who is known for his skills on the guitar as well as his abundance of festive spirit.

As of Monday, over $7,000 had been raised for Dennis Adams.

The gofundme campaign was launched by Adam’s sister-in-law and a statement on the online page, confirms that in the summer of 2023, he received the news of a brain tumor diagnosis.

“After numerous consultations with medical experts, it became evident that his only chance at overcoming this daunting challenge lies in seeking treatment beyond our province, in Winnipeg,” Laurie Johns wrote.

As one can imagine the expenses involved are substantial – including frequent flights to and from Winnipeg; extended hotel stays; essential hearing aids; and ensuring his wife’s presence beside him during vital appointments and surgeries.

“Now, more than ever, Dennis and his wife, Becky, need our collective support. The financial burden associated with battling such an illness in a different province is immense. Our aim is to ensure that Dennis can focus solely on his health during this trying time, without the added strain of financial concerns,” Johns said.

When paNOW reached out to Adams for comment, he replied that he is touched by the love, prayers, support and acts of kindness that he has received.

“It should remind us all that we live in a good community of caring people. All the well wishes I have received help me remain optimistic and positive in my uncertain future. We are now prepared to deal with my medical issues,” he said.

Adams also confirm plans for many more years of Halloween and Christmas decorating; as well as to expand his Music Lives Here program and to be involved in many community events and groups.
