The Prince Albert U18 AAA Mintos will have a new face behind the bench this season. The Board of Directors announced the hiring of Doan Smith as head coach.

A press release from the team read, ‘Doan comes to the Mintos with a number of years of coaching experience at many different levels of minor hockey. Most recently he was the assistant coach with the Prince Albert Mann-Northway U18 AAA Northern Bears, and prior to that he was the Head Coach of the Prince Albert Venice House U15 AA Pirates.’

Smith is currently the director of student-athlete development and is the head on-ice development coach at Global Sports Academy and the STIX hockey program in Prince Albert, so he has already worked with a number of current, former and future Minto players.

Smith will begin his duties immediately as the Mintos prepare for their 2024 Spring Camp, which is scheduled for April 18 -19 at the Art Hauser Centre.
