We are thrilled to announce that Jenny Hardy, Anne Kirvan, Stephanie Carter, and Chantalle Clarkin from the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) will be presenting on “9-8-8: Suicide Crisis Helpline in Canada – Early Implementation Outcomes” at the National Suicide Prevention Conference this May!
9-8-8 Suicide Crisis Helpline was launched in Canada in November 2023, and is available in French and English, 24 hours per day, by phone and text. 9-8-8 requires co-operations and partnership between many stakeholders and rightsholders across all Provinces and Territories in Canada, and the existing crisis and distress sector, as well as meaningful involvement on those with lived and living experiences of suicide and mental health.
Foundational values for 9-8-8 are non-judgemental, compassion, inclusion, cultural safety, and community-based approach to suicide prevention. This interprofessional team will describe the implementation approach that led to the successful launch of this program.
