Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan has created a way for the public to support its efforts.

In December, the organization partnered with the South Saskatchewan Community Foundation to enable donations to support work to build public trust in farming and food.

Contributions can now be made through the donation portal on farmfoodcaresk.org.

Donations to the non-endowed Community Fund help respond to immediate community needs, while donations to the Legacy Fund grow over time and will benefit public trust work for years to come.

Donations through this system are eligible for a tax-deductible receipt.

The owners of a farm-to-fork all-natural meat business in Saskatchewan cite difficulties finding skilled labour in the meat business, as well as the threat of avian flu in poultry, as reasons for closing after nearly 30 years of business.

Production at Pine View Farms near Warman, which is owned by Melanie and Kevin Boldt, will come to an end when their inventory runs out.

Melanie Boldt said the decision to close follows analysis and decision-making about the future of the business, as well as their stage of life and personal plans for the future.

She said she hopes customers will come in for one last visit and to stock up their freezers.

More firefighters will receive training and more rescue services will receive life-saving equipment through the BeGrainSafe program.

G3 is a CASA Safety Partner contributing $40,000 to the program.

The money goes to training and equipment for fire departments across the Prairies, Ontario and Quebec.

Grain entrapment is a potentially deadly risk for farmers and others who work around large volumes of grain, and specialized training and equipment are needed to safely extract a victim.
