They made it close but in the end the Prince Albert Raiders couldn’t quite solve the Brandon Wheat Kings on Thursday night.

The Raiders fell 3-2 to the Wheat Kings in front of 2,636 fans at the Art Hauser Centre.

Jayden Wiens opened the scoring for Brandon just 26 seconds into the game. Carson Bjarnason was also a difference maker, making 32 stops for the Wheat Kings in net.

Aiden Oiring and Niall Crocker scored for P.A., while Ryder Ritchie picked up an assist in his return to the lineup. The NHL prospect Ritchie had missed the last 21 games due to injury.

With the loss the Raiders are back to .500 and remain in seventh spot in the WHL’s Eastern Conference standings, now six points back of the Wheat Kings for sixth.

The two teams square off again on Saturday in Prince Albert.
