As the old saying goes, it ain’t over ‘til it’s over.

Those were the word that the Prince Albert Raiders lived by on Saturday night as they overcame a three-goal deficit in the third period to down the Lethbridge Hurricanes in overtime 4-3 at the Enmax Centre.

The win was the second in as many nights for Prince Albert as they managed to outlast the Medicine Hat Tigers 2-1 in a shootout on Friday.

Down in a 3-0 hole at the start of the third, Krzysztof Macias got the Raiders on the board midway through the frame as time continued to wind down. Then with 40 seconds left, Justice Christensen managed to pull the Raiders within one before Turner McMillen capitalized off a Hurricanes offensive zone turnover to tie the game with just four ticks left on the clock, forcing overtime. There, the Raiders needed 17 seconds to seal the deal as Sloan Stanick played overtime hero to complete the incredible comeback.

Christensen also managed two assists in the win while Stanick managed to tack on one of his own. Additionally, Aiden Oiring found the assist column too with a helper on Stanick’s overtime winner.

For the Hurricanes, Trae Wilke, Miguel Marques, and Kale Tipler were the goal scorers while Landen Ward, Logan McCutcheon, Logan Wormald, Joe Arntsen, and former Raider Hayden Pakkala tallied the assists.

Raiders’ netminder Max Hildebrand managed 29 saves to collect the win and help P.A. improve to 26-25-1-3 on the campaign.

Meanwhile Harrison Meneghin was in net for the Hurricanes and tallied 22 stops and was handed the loss as Lethbridge falls to 24-24-5-0 on the year.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE

The Hurricanes struck first in the back half of the opening frame. Pakkala sent a feed in front for Wilke who was able to tap it home past Hildebrand giving Lethbridge the lead.

The home team was able to build on the lead in the second as they scored not once, but twice in the middle period thanks to markers from Marques and Tipler’s first of his career.

Luckily though, Prince Albert managed to show some life as they figured out Meneghin in the third. Macias let a shot go from the left circle that was tipped in front by a Lethbridge defender and in to cut into the lead.

The with less than a minute to go in the game, the Raiders began to rally.

With the net empty, Christensen managed to beat the Hurricanes netminder but the play was blown dead and waived off by the officials however, the call went to review and after a couple of minutes, the call was reversed and was deemed a good goal.

Then with four seconds left on the clock and Hildebrand at the bench again, a failed clearing attempt by Lethbridge landed on the tape of McMillen who made no mistake by snapping home his seventh of the season to tie the game and force overtime.

And just 17 seconds into the extra frame, Oiring took the puck from behind the Raiders goal and carried it up through the neutral zone and into the Hurricanes end. He managed to weave his way into the slot where he lost control of the puck, but a trailing Stanick managed to scoop it up, shoot it, and score to complete the comeback for P.A. as they downed Lethbridge 4-3 and pickup a crucial two points in their push for the playoffs.

The Raiders now turn their focus to Thursday night as they look to extend their win streak to four when they host the Brandon Wheat Kings for a 7:00 p.m. puck drop at the Art Hauser Centre.
